Yoga

Power Yoga

It moves quickly: Power Yoga is an intense workout. Prepare to work hard and work up a sweat! It’s great for strength training! In Power Yoga, you lift and hold your entire body’s weight constantly. These classes incorporate a serious number of Vinyasas, and they’re going to get your entire body into gear. For one, your arms will feel the burn from all those Chaturangas! It makes you feel energized: Be prepared to leave feeling calm but with an extra little skip in my step!

Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa Flow is called this because of the smooth way that the poses run together transitioning seamlessly from one posture to the next. It is one of the most popular contemporary styles of yoga. Open to all levels beginners to advanced yogis, our Vinyasa Flow class is composed of a combination of postures designed to challenge your body and your mind. Rhythmic and invigorating, each class will include breath work, core work, spine strengthening, balancing, and meditative mindfulness.

Warm Vinyasa Flow

Warm Vinyasa Flow is everything you love about Vinyasa Flow taken into a warmer room. Why do this? Well, when your muscles are warm it allows for us to play and/ or achieve poses we might not be able to get into as well in a cooler room. Practicing yoga in a heated room increases your pulse rate and metabolism, allowing your blood vessels to become more flexible increasing your range of motion. What else does this mean? You got it – your body burns some major calories! This, in turn, makes circulation easier and increases blood flow to the limbs. If you are looking for a practice to help you with weight loss, then this is it! You sweat like a fiend. Beginners to advanced yogis welcome!

Hatha

If you are brand new to yoga then this is an awesome class for you to start to learn the postures. Hatha simply refers to the practice of physical yoga postures. In our Hatha yoga classes, we work on balancing the body and mind. Open to all levels of Yogis, Hatha classes tend to focus on one pose at a time with rest in between. Hatha is endlessly adaptable to each yoga teacher’s style and each student’s needs as we move through our postures. Fun, accessible this class is all about taking time to forget about your busy “to-do list” connect to your breath and move through poses with kindness.

Warm Yin

Let’s heat it. Love Yin yoga but wish you could come a little deeper into your pigeon to sleeping swan pose transition? Or perhaps do you want those calf muscles to open a little more or allow further release through your shoulders? Then this is your class! Studies have shown that while it is certainly true that more stress release will reach the ligaments and deeper connective tissues when the body is cooler in a regular Yin class, for many people, it is only when their body is warmed up that they can move deep enough into a posture to get stress release into their targeted tissues of our muscles. In other words, some students need to be warm to get any sensation and /or energetic, mental, and physiological benefits.

Embracing the same concepts as the Yin class but adding heat, Warm Yin is the slow-paced practice that uses long deep stretching, to enhance joint mobility and flexibility. It is a truly perfect way to find space, slow your mind down, and be guided deeper into your practice. Let’s melt your stress away

Restorative

In this class, we are going to turn you into a Prop Star. A sister practice to Yin the main difference between these two styles is that traditionally Yin Yoga does not use props such as yoga block, yoga straps, yoga bolsters, or any of those fun things we have at the studio to enhance the enjoyment of your Restorative class. Restorative yoga is a practice that is all about slowing down and opening your body through passive stretching. It’s a unique feeling because props, rather than your muscles, are used to support your body. A restorative yoga sequence typically involves only five or six poses, supported by props that allow you to completely relax and rest. Held for 5 minutes or more, restorative poses include light twists, seated forward folds, and gentle backbends. Most restorative practices are based on the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar meaning, yoga for everybody and everybody.

Yoga Tots

Suitable for ages 2.5yrs to 5 yrs.

Not only is Yoga amazing and fun for children but (according to the Yoga Journal:) Children derive enormous benefits from yoga. Physically, it enhances their flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. In addition, their concentration and sense of calmness and relaxation improve. Doing yoga, children exercise, play, connect more deeply with the inner self, and develop an intimate relationship with the natural world that surrounds them. Yoga brings that marvelous inner light that all children have to the surface. So be prepared for fun and creativity in our classes. You never know what may magically appear in our classes… Poof! Dragonbreathe and Fireworkbreath. Behold: our little downward-facing dog children transition into little leapfrog and then slithering snake. We row our boats down a river in boat pose then shake out our muscles in our yoga dance party only to move into still trees in Tree Pose with branch arms swaying in the wind. We have “pose of the day challenges” and take-home colouring sheets. From signing songs to yoga stories we play in animal shapes with our bodies, we imagine, we breathe.
